CANADA: A Virtual Cat Festival, a Celebration of A Capella, Canada’s Olympic Swim Trials and More

NATIONAL: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation raised $6 million at its virtual Hot Pink Evening gala on May 20. Hosted by Elizabeth Hurley, the event also featured appearances by Jordana Brewster, Edie Falco, Cheryl Hines, Patti LaBelle, Lisa Ling, Joan Lunden, Carolyn Murphy, Emma Myles, Amy Robach, Molly Sims and others.

Virtual and hybrid event platform vFairs has announced a new product integration tool to enhance virtual attendee engagement and offer a more immersive user experience. New releases include ReStream, which will enable vFairs to stream on over 30 separate platforms simultaneously; Interprify, which will allow for remote interpretation of multilingual events; and Oracle Eloqua, an integrated marketing solution for cross-channel marketing.

EDMONTON: The Edmonton International Cat Festival will take place May 29-30. The all-virtual event celebrates cats and cat culture, and 100% of proceeds are donated to local cat rescues. Since 2014, the event has raised $117,000 for rescues. New this year: a virtual vendor marketplace, sponsored by ATB Financial. 

TORONTO: Toronto Public Health has confirmed that despite Ontario’s stay-at-home order, Canada’s Olympic swim trials can take place June 19-23 at the Pan Am Sports Centre. The event, which selects the team for the Tokyo Olympics, was originally scheduled for May 24-28.

SING! The Toronto Vocal Arts Festival will mark its 10th anniversary with a virtual event, running through May 27 to June 6. The event kicks off with a celebration of Canada’s a cappella scene, and events throughout the week will draw artists from around the world like Freeplay, The Ault Sisters, Cadence and the Hamilton Children’s Choir.
