NATIONAL: As part of its #ForTheLoveOfLive campaign, Jägermeister Canada has partnered with the Canadian Live Music Association to offer a $100,000 relief fund to live music venues across the country. Applications are open through June 2; a lottery system will select 100 venue operators who will each receive $1,000 from the brand.
The CogXFestival has announced a three-year partnership with virtual platform Hopin to host the CogX Global Leadership Summit and Festival of AI and Transformational Technology. Taking place in Kings Cross, London, from June 14-16, the massive hybrid event expects to draw 100,000 attendees virtually and 5,000 in person, along with 1,000 speakers, over 350 virtual exhibitors, three physical stages and 15 virtual stages. Speakers will include British Airways CEO Sean Doyle, Rolls Royce CEO Warren East and actors Matthew McConaughey and Robert Downey Jr.
BANFF: The 42nd annual Banff World Media Festival, taking place virtually from June 14-July 16, has added an International Indigenous Screen Industry Summit on June 21. Meant to highlight and empower Indigenous media professionals, the summit will run on the festival’s virtual platform and include panel discussions, networking events and sessions with Indigenous creators. There will also be a master class with the stars of FX’s Reservation Dogs.
MONTREAL: C2 Montréal will take place both online and in person from Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 26-28. The 10th anniversary will offer a mix of physical and digital experiences; organizers are also launching a new, long-term initiative designed to celebrate and grow a community of creative young business people. The 2021 event theme is (Re)—as in (re)convene, (re)connect, (re)engage, (re)imagine and (re)new.
OTTAWA: The 2021 Ottowa Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival is taking place June 1-21. The lineup includes both virtual and COVID-safe activities, from educational workshops to cooking classes to concerts. Highlights include an online painting class from Algonquin artist Simon Brascoupé, the “Social Distance Powwow” featuring singers and dancers from across North America, a culinary workshop with chef Justine Deschenes and a series of drive-in movies.
