NATIONAL: The Events Industry Council has officially launched the first phase of its Equity Acceleration Plan, which includes a survey to determine the current state of diversity, equity and inclusion across the event industry. The results will inform the development of tools, resources and recommendations in the subsequent phases of the plan, aiming to provide a framework for addressing discrimination and systemic racism in the industry. The survey is available here until Oct. 15.
The Critics Choice Association will hold its first annual Celebration of Latino Cinema on Dec. 9, 2021. The inaugural event will be presented virtually, and it will honor those who have made significant contributions to film in 2021. Honorees will include Rita Moreno, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Demián Bichir, with more to be announced.
Event software company Bizzabo has hired five new executives, bringing a total of 70-plus years of experience to the team. ALBANY, NY: The Albany Capital Center has installed a free-standing Mamava Lactation Pod, a clean and private space for breastfeeding that is available at all events starting this month. The pod, sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York, has two benches, a fold-down table, a dual-outlet and USB port, and more.
NEW YORK: Vegandale Festival will host its sixth annual event on Sept. 25 at Randall’s Island Park. The event will feature 200 vendors from across the country, and it is being hosted by author Lauren Toyota. In addition to vegan eats, the event will feature art installations, live music, contests and more.
