NATIONAL: W Hotels has partnered with tabletop rental service Social Studies, providing clients and guests the opportunity to add custom, ready-made decor options to meetings and events. Social Studies is offering 12 tablescape looks, with options including an island-inspired look, a modern formal setting and a maximalist design in partnership with Italian designer La DoubleJ.
MONTREAL: After a thorough bidding process, the Palais des Congrès de Montréal has selected Quebec-based firm TKNL, Experience Makers, as its official partner for audiovisual production as well as for simultaneous translation and interpretation. The partnership will officially begin on Jan. 1, 2022, and will run for the next five years.
TORONTO: TO Live—the multi-arts organization that operates Meridian Hall, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and Meridian Arts Centre—has announced its winter 2022 programming. Highlights include the return of Australia’s Circa Contemporary Circus, new shows from DJ Kid Koala and street dancers Crazy Smooth, partnerships with Xenia Concerts and the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, and more.
VANCOUVER: The B.C. government has increased its grant fund for community festivals and events from $12.9 million to $30 million. The fund will allow more than 680 local fairs, festivals and events—including the Pacific National Exhibition, the Williams Lake Stampede and the Junior All-Native Basketball Tournament—to resume their activities. The grant, which was initially announced in August, is covering up to 20% of the total budget for events held between July 2021 and Sept. 2022.
Vancouver’s Rosewood Hotel Georgia recently made Condé Nast Traveler’s 2022 Gold List, a travel editor-curated ranking of the best global hotels and resorts. The 156-room property is the only Canadian hotel that made the list this year.
