US: Team Building for Black History Month, Denver’s Massive New Event Patio, Miami Film Festival Updates and More

NATIONAL: Marco Experiences—a marketplace for virtual, hybrid and in-person team-building experiences—is launching a Heritage & Awareness Month Experience Series. For Black History Month in February, the company will offer experiences centered around race, culture and the Black experience; future experiences will center around Women’s History Month in March, Mental Health Awareness Month in May, AAPI Heritage Month in May and Pride Month in June.

DENVER: James Beard Award-nominated restaurant concept Yardbird will open in Denver’s River North Art District in the fall. The 13,800-square-foot eatery will seat 250 guests and feature the district’s largest urban patio, spanning 20,000 square feet. The patio will include a stage for live entertainment, a full bar, an outdoor smoker and space for 300 people.

LAS VEGAS: A second date has been added to the When We Were Young Festival, taking place at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on Oct. 23. The festival will feature the same lineup on both dates, which includes My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional and more. Tickets start at $224.99 and are on sale now.

LOS ANGELES: As the Super Bowl approaches, national nonprofit In Our Backyard is aiming to raise awareness of human trafficking issues surrounding the event. On Jan. 29, the group is partnering with local anti-trafficking organizations Forgotten Children Inc. and South Los Angeles Anti Trafficking Committee to host the 13th annual Anti-Trafficking Awareness and Missing Children Outreach event at the Center of Hope in Inglewood. Attendees will be trained by local experts before a lunch and Q&A session.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: The 39th annual Miami Film Festival will take place in person from March 4-13. The event, organized by Miami Made College, is considered the preeminent film festival showcasing Ibero-American cinema in the U.S.; it typically draws more than 45,000 audience members and more than 400 industry professionals and is the only major festival housed within a university.
