CANADA: The Country’s Top Hotels, a Virtual Charity Walk, an Online Cooking Session and More

NATIONAL: The U.S. News & World Report has released its 2022 list of the best hotels in Canada. The Rosewood Hotel Georgia, a 156-room property in Vancouver, took first place, followed by the 96-room Ritz-Carlton, Montreal, and the 377-room Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver.

CALGARY: The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) will host the Calgary National Bank Challenger at the Osten & Victor Alberta Tennis Centre this year after taking a year off due to COVID-19. The event, the largest of the ATP Challenger Tour’s stops, is currently slated for Nov. 6-13. 

EDMONTON: Mustard Seed, a local charity that aims to alleviate poverty and homelessness, will host its Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser on Feb. 26. The event will be held virtually this year, with participants walking either a 2-, 5- or 10-kilometer route to raise funds for the organization’s Neighbourhood Centre community hub.

TORONTO: Ace Hotel has announced that its first property in Canada will open in Toronto in June. The new 124-room hotel will be located on Camden Street in Toronto’s Garment District. The property is being designed by Shim-Sutcliffe Architects with an industrial feel, including raw elements like exposed joints and bricks.

VANCOUVER: To mark Canada’s Agriculture Day on Feb. 22, the BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation will present the free virtual Cook-Along BC event. Chef Trevor Randle will host an online cooking session, and reps from BC Chicken Marketing Board and Harker’s Organic will join to provide insights on farming.
