NATIONAL: The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival is returning this summer. The Calgary edition, taking place June 24-26 at Prince Island Park, will feature headliners Bill Burr and David Spade. The Edmonton edition, taking place Aug. 12-14 at Exhibition Lands Racetrack Infield, will feature Amy Schumer and Pete Davidson, among others. Presale tickets are available today.
EDMONTON: Capital City Vintage, a pop-up market showcasing a variety of items from the 1950s to 2000s, will take place at Edmonton’s Downtown Farmer’s Market from April 9-10. The lineup of more than two dozen vendors includes Alexander and Rose, Three Parrots, Polar Girl Vintage and Honey Lounge.
MONTREAL: The ninth edition of Festival de la Voix takes place March 19 to April 10 at various venues in the West Island and Westmount. The festival aims to celebrate the power of the human voice and will include seven concerts showcasing a mix of styles. A highlight will be Concert Vox Astern on April 9, which will celebrate Montreal’s first culturally diverse symphony orchestra, Ensemble Obiora.
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is throwing a series of "monochrome parties" to celebrate its new exhibition, Nicolas Party: L'heure mauve. Attendees are encouraged to dress in colors inspired by the artist’s work. The first party takes place March 23 with a green color scheme, while the April 20 event will be red, May 18 will be blue, June 8 will be pink and Sept. 21 will be light green. Eventgoers also get access to creative workshops and film screenings.
TORONTO: “What Water Knows, The Land Remembers,” the second edition of the Toronto Biennial of Art, opens on March 26. The biennial’s free exhibitions and programs will be available at several sites until June 5. The theme draws from polyphonic histories sedimented in and around Toronto and features works from 70 Canadian and international participants.
