DecadesTwo to Host In-Store Event in Support of Gay Marriage

Manolo Blahnik devotees can add another reason to build their collections next month, when designer consignment boutique DecadesTwo will host an in-store benefit in support of No On 8, a campaign that protests a ballot proposition that would reverse the right to same-sex marriage in California.

The event, which will take place on August 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., will offer hundreds of designer shoes from celebrity consigners such as Selma Blair and Winona Ryder for $88.88 a pop. “Eight is my lucky number, and holding the event on 8-8-8 for No On 8 with the shoes at $88.88 is cosmic,” said DecadesTwo co-owner Christos Garkinos. “We hope that L.A. shoe lovers come out, get a Manolo, and protect gays and lesbians from losing their right to marry in California.” Fifteen percent of the proceeds will go to the No On 8 campaign.Though Garkinos has organized similar promotions for political causes in the past, this benefit will be the largest event ever held at DecadesTwo. Garkinos estimates turnout will be in the hundreds. “We sent out about 4,000 invitations,” he said. “Hopefully, we’ll raise a ton of money.”
