* INCOMING *

1. EMMY ANTICS AND RATINGS:
 Halfway through last night's Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre, host Jimmy Kimmel garnered a 25,000-tweet boost thanks to a prank he played, in which he urged the audience and TV-watchers to tweet, "O.M.G. Tracy Morgan just passed out onstage during the Emmys, turn on ABC." The Hollywood Reporter: http://bit.ly/NLCrXM

In fact, Kimmel's Twitter joke was regarded by critics as one of the highlights of a efficient, "fairly briskly paced" broadcast. Entertainment Weekly: http://bit.ly/QtkflZ

EW also has a recap of the best and worst moments of the evening. http://bit.ly/PeW6wH

2. MEMORY LOSS APP: To promote awareness on World Alzheimer's Day last Friday, Alzheimer's Disease International offered a Facebook app that causes all information and photos to disappear from a profile's timeline for the day, prompting users to see what it's like to forget past events. AdWeek: http://bit.ly/SepGXG

3. AUTOMATICALLY SOCIAL: Ad Age thinks carmakers like Ford aren't doing all they should be to make the most of social-marketing. Ad Age: "[A]uto manufacturers still need to step up their use of social media to more effectively manage and improve their messaging, engagement, and service with consumers—throughout the buying and loyalty journey." http://bit.ly/TdkXqG

4. HOTELS PROMOTE MIXED REVIEWS: Hotels such as Best Western International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide are starting to link to review site TripAdvisor from their Web sites. L.A. Times: "Although hotels that post links to reviews on their own website run the risk of losing customers because of harsh reviews, there's still an upside even if all comments aren't rosy … said Neha Singh, an assistant professor at the Collins College of Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona. 'One benefit is the transparency,' she said. 'It allows guests in a transparent way to see what other guest enjoyed and did not enjoy at the hotel.'" http://lat.ms/QOr3YM

5. INDUSTRY DUO: Meeting Professionals International and Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International have come together to promote a new relations by offering a dual membership. The special membership promotion is available through December 31, 2012. http://bit.ly/2S6QK2
