What I do: From leadership meetings and national sales conferences, to trade shows, sporting events, award galas and more—if there is an event out there—I have experience producing it. I have amplified major brands by delivering unforgettable experiences.
How I got here: After 26 years in Corporate America, in both marketing and event leadership roles, I was handed the proverbial “pink slip” in 2015 after 13 years of dedication as an event director with UnitedHealthcare. Leveraging all the skills I had learned over the years in marketing, finance, branding and events management, Wendy Porter Events, LLC, was launched in November 2015. It’s been a wild ride these last four years, but I don’t regret one minute of the life of an entrepreneur!
Greatest career accomplishment: In April 2019, I was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Minnesota Meetings & Events Magazine as the 2019 Best Special Events Planner!
Impressive stats: In the past 18 years, I have proved more than 1,700 events, managed more than $50 million in budgets and exposed 1 million people to Wendy Porter Events.
Specific improvement I’ve made: When I first ran UnitedHealthcare’s Platinum Sponsorship for the AARP Life@50+ Annual Member Event, our booth was 1,200 square feet that looked tiny on the floor. At its height, our booth was 13,000 square feet! Year over year, I added experiential elements that drove the visitors to stay in the booth from 20 minutes to three hours! (The average length of visit at a trade show booth is three to five minutes.)
What I do outside of work: I love to work in my award-winning flower garden, attend local and national art shows, and travel to Europe to experience the amazing culture, food and bucolic sites.
