What I do: I work with groups of all sizes that are meeting in Washington, D.C., by servicing any and all of their needs—whether that be assisting in booking hotels or venues, pinpointing restaurants or defining appropriate CSR opportunities. I like to think of my role as being a “concierge for the city.. We help customers find what they need to make their meeting a success.

How I got here: I was looking for a part-time job while going to school at George Mason University and in 1989 landed in Destination DC’s housing department’s call center—a job I never thought I would be in considering I aspired to be a doctor my whole life. And 30 years later, here I am. It went by in the blink of an eye.

Greatest career accomplishment: I created the Annual Meetings Alliance, a Destination DC program focused on sharing our appreciation for annual clients through networking, educational events and access to new city developments on a quarterly basis.

Impressive stats: I oversaw a 50% staff increase on the convention services team for maximum efficiency and spearheaded the recreation of service programs to include a welcome program, appreciation events and city concessions that clients can take utilize.

What I am working on now: We just launched our “Connected Campus” sales initiatives this year and I’m eager to work with groups on expanding their meeting beyond the convention center. The concept invites groups to jazz up their traditional meeting layout with seven non-traditional venues, all within walking distance of the convention center. The venues range from the United Methodist Church to Long View Gallery, bringing a breadth of diverse spaces to the mix.

What I do outside of work: I’m on the Event Services Professional Association Leadership Committee and serve as an educational advisor on Destination International’s Convention Sales & Services Committee. Personally, I enjoy boxing, being active and spending time with my family.
