Since opening in mid-August, Dome, the temporary indoor/outdoor venue in the empty lot adjacent to the Soho Grand Hotel, has drawn a series of music and fashion events. Owned and operated by the Soho Grand, Dome was specifically created to host the hotel’s 10th anniversary party on September 28, and is set to close on September 31.
So far the space has held Outkast’s Idlewild album release party during MTV VMA week and the after-party for the Miss Sixty show last Thursday, and is set to host the Zac Posen after-party tomorrow night. The venue contains two domes—one large and one small—that can accommodate as many as 800; they have suede beds, leather couches, and everyone-looks-pretty low lighting. But the coolest part, in our opinion, is the outdoor seating next to graffiti-covered brick walls speckled with candles. And there’s good news for planners still searching for a venue: Dome is available for last-minute bookings this month.
